The Paddler/BOCC Membership Agreement
B.O.C.C. Commitment is to:
- Provide a safe and supportive environment
- Provide canoes and all equipment in good working order
- Club room facilities
- Supportive coaching and guidance
- Regattas
- Social Functions
- Reduce financial commitment through fundraising and sponsorship
Paddlers commitment to BOCC:
- Abide by the code of ethics
- Pay membership fees when due
- Assist with Corporate Regatta’s
- Assist with care of canoes and equipment
- Assist with working bees to ensure the general care of club equipment
- Assist each other in rigging and de-rigging canoes
Handling Customs
As a mark of respect for the culture and traditions of the Polynesian culture, Brisbane Outriggers reminds all paddlers to promote and adhere to the following traditions at all times:
- Do not jump or step over the canoe when it is on land – always walk around
- Do not sit on or in the canoe when it is on land
- Do not swear when in the canoe
- Avoid standing up in the canoe
- Ensure that the canoes are returned to the beach stern first and positioned this way on the beach.
